Okay, I’ve tried to stay away from mentioning anything about the X Factor but finally Wagner (pronounced Vagner unless your name is Louis Walsh) Carrilho’s run in the competition has come to an end!
Yes, sure he made interesting television but only as far as being able to see the judges faces drop in dismay each week as the results were announced and Wagner managed to sail through time and time again.
It all came down to the judges decision as to who should stay between Wagner and fellow contestant Mary Byrne.
Although both contestants were in the Over 28’s category and under Louis’s guidance, Louis was quick to vote for Mary to go through to the next round. Fellow judge Danni Minogue agreed with his decision and it was Cheryl Cole who hammered the final nail into Wagner’s coffin by also voting to put Mary through. If a fourth vote had been required then a relieved Simon Cowell’s vote for Mary to remain in the contest would have only sealed the decision.
The Brazilian’s success at remaining in the singing competition, despite his complete inability to hold a note, has largely been down to receiving the support of the people who were behind last year’s Rage Against the Machine which prevented the 2009 X Factor winner Joe McElderry from taking the Christmas number one position.
