Okay, I know I promised but I haven’t been keeping this blog as up to date as perhaps I should but I promise that is going to change. Very soon.
During the past couple of months I have had a few things on my mind that I needed to work through as well as take a look at life in general and which direction mine was heading. Subsequently, this time last week I made a decision that in one way or another is going to be a major influence on the future. I decided to take voluntary redundancy from my day job. With the current economic climate some will consider this foolhardy whilst others will think it a brave step. Why did I do it? There are a number of reasons but the main one is that I simply felt that there was never going to be a better time than now!
So what am I going to do now? Well for the next 4 weeks I will still be working the 9 to 5 routine. My contract officially ends on July 15th. Taking into consideration outstanding annual leave that is still to be taken there is only 16 more working days remaining. And yes I am counting them down. After that I will be taking it as it comes. I have a few ideas I want to look at and only time will tell whether they reach fruition. The one thing that I will be concentrating on though is dedicating a good proportion of the day to writing. If there’s ever been an opportunity to turn my hand full-time to writing it has got to be now. I’m in no doubt that there will be some tough times ahead but from the moment I made the decision I knew it was the right one.
The 15th July 2011 is the day it all changes and in twelve months I hope to be able to look back with the satisfaction that it was one of the best decisions of my life!
